Date of issue of language version |
FASSUNG |
Date of issue of a version of the original document in a different language |
The publication of a standard, draft standard or technical rule is generally the same as that of the associated translations. There are, however, a number of collections in which the publication date of the document can differ from that of a translation. The field named VERSION has been introduced to document this publication that deviates from the master record. The field is filled in if the publication date of the language version (filed as the dependent record in the DITR database) differs from the publication date of the standard or technical rule. In such cases the publication date of the master record is given in the field for the publication date of the language version. This is necessitated by the DITR database logic, being required to enable the language version to be assigned directly to the master record. In such cases the user must also evaluate the VERSION field.

Normally, technical rules are effective as of their publication date. Standard format: YYYY-MM-DD
|
DIN 13098-1 states that it is "Valid from 1 June 1988". Since the effective date (1988-06-01) is different from the date of edition (1987-12) it must be stated here. |

The International Classification for Standards (ICS) is a classification system published by ISO that is specifically geared to the requirements of normative documents. With some 1,000 classes, ICS enables standards to be assigned to classification groups according to their content. The ICS notation is used to group together documents with similar content independently of formal criteria such as author, collection or type of document. ICS numbers are assigned by experienced staff who strictly adhere to ICSs syntax.

MR-TYPSNIF |
MR-TYPSNIF |
Type of standard in terms of safety of machinery. Is maintained as attribute: Typ-A (basic safety standard); Typ-B (generic safety standard): -Typ-B1 (standard on particular safety aspects); -Typ-B2 (standards on safeguard); Typ-C (machine safety standard). |
The attribute MR-TYPSNIF is maintained exclusively on DIN-Standards. The safety of machinery is one of the central subjects in standardization and occupational safety and health (OSH). The development of machinery safety related standards is based in DIN EN ISO 12100 as well as CEN Guide 414 and ISO Guide 78. They provide a classificaton in three categories: Type-A-Standards (basic safety standards); Type-B-Standards (generic safety standards); Typ-C-Standards (machine safety standards). The information is extracted via SNIF directly from the fulltext of DIN-Standards and saved as attribute in the DITR-Database. In this way it is possible to search machine safety standards specifically based on their typification. |

Non current date |
NONCURRENT |
Only for SAE standards: From this date on the technical rule is no longer permitted to be used for new constructions |
A current normative document becomes historical at a documented point in time if a revised version replaces this document or the content of the document no longer represents the state of the art and the document is not replaced by another. On top of this, in the SAE collection the date NONCURRENT can also be used. This, combined with the resulting change in the document identifier, sometimes confuses customers. It states the moment in time from which it is no longer permitted to use the normative document for new designs, while at the same time the document is not yet being withdrawn, remaining current for designs before the NONCURRENT date. Documents published by SAE are subjected to five-yearly-review, following which they are either withdrawn or the NONCURRENT date confirmed. If NONCURRENT is confirmed, a further NONCURRENT date is given while ensuring its traceability to the first time the document was given this special status. When issuing new versions SAE uses the next letter of the alphabet to the one used for the immediately previous version. This applies both to withdrawn documents and when a NONCURRENT date is set for the first time. The apparently new version only differs in terms of this date. The DITR database not only shows the original form of the document identifier, but also the dates Edition, Withdrawal and Noncurrent. |

PR-TITEL |
PR-TITEL |
PR-TITEL descriptors are only available in German language.

PR-TITEL-descriptors are search terms generated from titles of DIN aerospace standards. They can consist of single title keywords like descriptive adjectives ("slotted") or material numbers ("AL-P7075-T73511"), but also of keyword groups like phrases ("Hermetic receptacle ", "with round flange attached by welding or brazing", " inactive for new design") or terms for physical quantities ("Classification: 490 MPa (at ambient temperature)/425 °C"). PR-TITEL-descriptors complement DITR-descriptors by specific search terms, thus enabling precise researches. They are generated automatically and checked intellectually with a focus on syntactic and semantic aspects: syntactical and conceptual units are preserved, and different spellings are harmonised. |
PR-TITEL descriptors are only available in German language. |

Transitional periods |
UEFRIST |
If a document is withdrawn and replaced by one or more new documents, sometimes a transitional period has been set during which the withdrawn document or parts thereof may continue to be applied. This information is coupled with a replacement notice, amendment notice or a notice of other transitional periods. A text is generated and the relevant provisions are given when this data field is selected. Transitional periods are documented when laid down by the relevant issuing body. |
The data fields
"Replaces/Replaced by" and
"Amends/Amended by" should be selected together with "Transitional periods".

structural metadata |
Version date |
VERSION |
Date on which a version is published with editorial changes or changes to its content |
From time to time, the issuing body makes changes to valid normative documents. This results in replacement documents or amendments with their own document identifiers enabling these to be formally distinguished from the main document. But how can we formally identify a modified document if the issuing body does not publish a new standardization document because, for instance, only slight editorial changes were made?

Document identifier of original:

descriptive metadata |
Version history |
VERSHIST |
Document identifiers of a documents predecessors and successors in their entirety, including that of the document itself |
If desired, the spaces between the document identifier and the date of edition can be omitted. Beside the entries given, further categories of documents stated in the history can be included (e.g. ID, FIDAS key) in order to clearly identify documents with which a relationship exists. |
