DIN Software GmbH
A record is created in DIN Software's DITR database for each technical rule. This record contains all the important bibliographic and descriptive elements in the document as well as the elements necessary for managing data in document collections. This table describes the available data fields. These can be compiled individually for customers by the data service and are also the basis for DIN Software's other electronic products (such as the Perinorm DVD).
The notes on each data field are to be seen as examples. For the DITR data services we can supply each data field in a customized format. You can choose among the many options for parameters, such as data format, field name, field length, notation and spelling, special characters and content display. Such options include:

Date of issue of language version

(Back to field list)

FASSUNG
Date of issue of a version of the original document in a different languageThe publication of a standard, draft standard or technical rule is generally the same as that of the associated translations. There are, however, a number of collections in which the publication date of the document can differ from that of a translation. The field named VERSION has been introduced to document this publication that deviates from the master record. The field is filled in if the publication date of the language version (filed as the “dependent” record in the DITR database) differs from the publication date of the standard or technical rule. In such cases the publication date of the master record is given in the field for the publication date of the language version. This is necessitated by the DITR database logic, being required to enable the language version to be assigned directly to the master record. In such cases the user must also evaluate the VERSION field.
Nowadays the VERSION field is used for numerous collections. It often occurs in the JIS (Japanese standards) collection where the publication date of the English-language translation differs from that of the original Japanese document. The International Union of Railways (UIC) also uses VERSION. Other collections are ISO, IEC, CSA (Canadian standards) and DVS.

Effective date

(Back to field list)

GUELT
Normally, technical rules are effective as of their publication date. In exceptional cases, however, a specific effective date can be specified in documents that is not the same as the date of edition or for which the exact day of issue has to be specified (, e.g. in the case of safety-related specifications).Standard format: YYYY-MM-DD
If available and, relevant: the approval date ("APPROVED") can also be provided.
DIN 13098-1 states that it is "Valid from 1 June 1988". Since the effective date (1988-06-01) is different from the date of edition (1987-12) it must be stated here.
English descriptors

(Back to field list)

EDESK
English descriptors (search terms or keywords) describing the contents of a document (identical to keyword index in DIN Catalogue)In the DITR database there are currently (as of July 2014) approx. 51,500 German, 47,700 English and 22,000 French descriptors that are maintained as a “controlled, interdisciplinary vocabulary” and continually expanded. Every document registered in our database is comprehensively and systematically described by means of descriptors in up to three languages. The descriptors generally take the form of nominative singular nouns unless only the plural form is used.
The descriptors are subject to a stringent regime and can be combined to form a structured vocabulary using the DITR thesaurus. In this way they have an umbrella function over various related standards: records with the same descriptor have similar a content, but this cannot be recognized by only looking at the “visible part” of the document, such as the title. Searching by descriptors, then, gets better results than a search by title or even a full-text search.

The Beuth Verlag EDP no. is also used to identify the full-text document.
For technical reasons, the number of printed pages may differ from that of the original document (e.g. because a larger paper size is used).
The address can be modified as needed, for instance there may be a prefix indicating the language a document is in.

ICS information

(Back to field list)

-
Information on ICS notationThe International Classification for Standards (ICS) is a classification system published by ISO that is specifically geared to the requirements of normative documents. With some 1,000 classes, ICS enables standards to be assigned to classification groups according to their content. The ICS notation is used to group together documents with similar content independently of formal criteria such as author, collection or type of document. ICS numbers are assigned by experienced staff who strictly adhere to ICS’s syntax.
ICS is used by standards organizations worldwide, enabling multinational databases such as PERINORM to be searched independent of language. The data in Beuth’s webshop can also be searched through using the ICS system. All records in our databases will continue to be assigned ICS information.
The hierarchical structure of the notations enables searching from the general to the specific:
11 Health care technology
11.040 Medical equipment
11.040.25 Syringes, needles and catheters

MR-TYPSNIF

(Back to field list)

MR-TYPSNIF
Type of standard in terms of safety of machinery. Is maintained as attribute: Typ-A (basic safety standard); Typ-B (generic safety standard): -Typ-B1 (standard on particular safety aspects); -Typ-B2 (standards on safeguard); Typ-C (machine safety standard). The attribute MR-TYPSNIF is maintained exclusively on DIN-Standards. The safety of machinery is one of the central subjects in standardization and occupational safety and health (OSH). The development of machinery safety related standards is based in DIN EN ISO 12100 as well as CEN Guide 414 and ISO Guide 78. They provide a classificaton in three categories: Type-A-Standards (basic safety standards); Type-B-Standards (generic safety standards); Typ-C-Standards (machine safety standards). The information is extracted via SNIF directly from the fulltext of DIN-Standards and saved as attribute in the DITR-Database. In this way it is possible to search machine safety standards specifically based on their typification.DIN EN ISO 12100

Non current date

(Back to field list)

NONCURRENT
Only for SAE standards: From this date on the technical rule is no longer permitted to be used for new constructionsA current normative document becomes historical at a documented point in time if a revised version replaces this document or the content of the document no longer represents the state of the art and the document is not replaced by another. On top of this, in the SAE collection the date NONCURRENT can also be used. This, combined with the resulting change in the document identifier, sometimes confuses customers. It states the moment in time from which it is no longer permitted to use the normative document for new designs, while at the same time the document is not yet being withdrawn, remaining current for designs before the NONCURRENT date. Documents published by SAE are subjected to five-yearly-review, following which they are either withdrawn or the NONCURRENT date confirmed. If NONCURRENT is confirmed, a further NONCURRENT date is given while ensuring its traceability to the first time the document was given this special status. When issuing new versions SAE uses the next letter of the alphabet to the one used for the immediately previous version. This applies both to withdrawn documents and when a NONCURRENT date is set for the first time. The apparently new version only differs in terms of this date. The DITR database not only shows the original form of the document identifier, but also the dates Edition, Withdrawal and Noncurrent.Original document identifier (old):

PR-TITEL
PR-TITEL descriptors are only available in German language.
PR-TITEL-descriptors are search terms generated from titles of DIN aerospace standards. They are assigned to the corresponding dataset as descriptors with the descriptortype PR TITLE.
PR-TITEL-descriptors are search terms generated from titles of DIN aerospace standards. They can consist of single title keywords like descriptive adjectives ("slotted") or material numbers ("AL-P7075-T73511"), but also of keyword groups like phrases ("Hermetic receptacle ", "with round flange attached by welding or brazing", " inactive for new design") or terms for physical quantities ("Classification: 490 MPa (at ambient temperature)/425 °C"). PR-TITEL-descriptors complement DITR-descriptors by specific search terms, thus enabling precise researches. They are generated automatically and checked intellectually with a focus on syntactic and semantic aspects: syntactical and conceptual units are preserved, and different spellings are harmonised.PR-TITEL descriptors are only available in German language.

KONFORMEIN
KONFORMTXT
Reference to the official source which states that restrictions in respect of the presumption of conformity of a specific standard exist or have been withdrawn, and reference to the official text of the restrictionHarmonized standards are already an indispensable tool for industry and business. The presumption of conformity associated with applying standards is an important element of the Internal Market, as the market authorities can assume that a product meets the essential health and safety requirements set out in the EU New Approach Directives.
If, however, it should transpire that a harmonized European standard does not fully provide the detailed specifications needed to supplement the requirements of an EU Directive, the EU Commission can withdraw publication of the source in the Official Journal of the EU or it can restrict the presumption of conformity. In the latter case, the presumption of conformity explicitly does not apply to certain essential requirements of the Directive.
In the DITR database this information is given by the fields KONFORMEIN and KONFORMTXT.
This information only applies in connection with harmonized European Standards (EN, EN ISO) and has so far been documented for 14 current harmonized EN Standards.

Transitional periods

(Back to field list)

UEFRIST
If a document is withdrawn and replaced by one or more new documents, sometimes a transitional period has been set during which the withdrawn document or parts thereof may continue to be applied. This information is coupled with a replacement notice, amendment notice or a notice of other transitional periods. A text is generated and the relevant provisions are given when this data field is selected. Transitional periods are documented when laid down by the relevant issuing body. The data fields "Replaces/Replaced by" and "Amends/Amended by" should be selected together with "Transitional periods".
The data field "Other transitional period" is automatically delivered free of charge with "Transitional periods".
The texts ÜFRISTVON and ÜFRISTNACH (see examples) are also available in English and French.
Notes may be included in this data field. For instance if EN 60335-2-6, 1990-11 edition, has a transitional period of ÜFRIST=2000-04-01, the following text will be added to the "Amended" statement:
"For products which meet the requirements of EN 60335-2-6:1990 before 1. April 1995."
Example of transitional period information coupled to a replacement statement:

DIN 15990, 1981-12 replaces DIN 15990, 1974-08 with a transitional period of 1982-05-31 ((no explanation))

Version date

(Back to field list)

VERSION
Date on which a version is published with editorial changes or changes to its contentFrom time to time, the issuing body makes changes to valid normative documents. This results in replacement documents or amendments with their own document identifiers enabling these to be formally distinguished from the main document. But how can we formally identify a modified document if the issuing body does not publish a new standardization document because, for instance, only slight editorial changes were made?
To cater for such cases, the DITR database has now introduced a VERSION field identifying the date on which change(s) to the version were made. VERSION is a useful aid when deciding whether to procure documents and is also helpful for a company’s document management.
VERSION is currently being used for 30 collections (e.g. EN, ISO, IEC, ASTM) and has been assigned to 2,426 records (August 2014). A feature particular to ASTM is that VERSION is used when the issuer ASTM has added a small letter “e” to the original document identifier (“e” denotes editorial changes”) with a corresponding version number.
